Plan Your Visit Costs

Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

If you do not have or are not using health insurance to pay for care, you generally have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. An estimate is generally required when you schedule care at least three business days in advance or request one. It is an estimate, not a bill.

Call 630-822-2242 to request an estimate before scheduling or before your visit. An estimate from one provider may not cover charges from another provider or facility.

  • Request expected charges before your visit
  • You’re not required to schedule after receiving an estimate

PREPARE WITH CONFIDENCE

Before Your Self-Pay Visit

Choose the right appointment

Start with the reason you want to see the physician. A new patient appointment helps establish care and review your medical history. An established follow-up visit focuses on ongoing care, medication review, or a condition already being managed. A sick visit addresses a current concern when an appointment is available.

If you are new to Paeon Health or have several concerns, ask which appointment type is appropriate before booking. Telehealth may be an option when clinically appropriate and you are located in Illinois. Some concerns require an examination in the office.

Prepare information for your visit

Bring a current medication list, including prescription medicines, nonprescription products, and supplements. Note any medication allergies and the main questions you want to discuss. Relevant test results, discharge paperwork, or records from another clinician can help provide context.

If you need a form completed or have a deadline, mention this when scheduling so the office can clarify what is needed. For a video appointment, choose a private location and check your camera, microphone, and internet connection. Use our first visit checklist or telehealth preparation guide before your appointment.

Understand possible additional charges

Review the listed self-pay price for your appointment and ask what is included. The visit fee may not include laboratory tests, imaging, vaccines, medications, procedures, or services provided by outside organizations.

Before proceeding with a separately charged service, ask who will provide it, who will send the bill, and how to request pricing information. If you receive a bill you do not understand, contact the organization listed on that bill for an explanation of the service and charge.

For help choosing a visit or discussing expected fees, contact Paeon Health before booking. Knowing the appointment type and potential additional expenses can help you plan your care.
